Askar Bolat
I came up with the startup Qalan.kz, which helps schoolchildren learn math and earn money. This is a service that teaches math in Kazakh and Russian. On the online platform, schoolchildren solve problems with the help of genuine teachers and a chatbot based on AI. For successful completion of tasks, the children receive monetary rewards. The project already works in several countries and covers more than 325 thousand people. For the joint Digital Business and project Astana Hub “100 Startup Stories of Kazakhstan”, they explained how the platform works, what artificial intelligence is responsible for in it, what the uniqueness of the product is, and what potential it has for scaling to international markets.
Askar Bolat justified not only the hopes of his parents, who named him after the outstanding mathematician Askar Zhumadildayev, but also his university specialty—”Mathematical and Computer Modeling.” He started his professional career as a teacher in an ordinary school and also engaged in tutoring.
According to Askar, it is also crucial for aspiring business people to understand their advantages over their competitors—for example, the Qalan. The KZ platform is distinguished by its accessibility for schoolchildren with different family incomes. You can use both the demo version and set up personalized training. Qalan.kz has started to expand into new markets in the CIS.
